Best photo spots at the Merrimon-Wynne House

The Merrimon-Wynne house is one of my favorite wedding venues to photograph! Every room is beautiful, the grounds are stunning and it’s right in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Let’s use Riley and Mark’s wedding to show off some of the best spots for photos at this venue! This was a November wedding.

The Bridal Suite

Of course this is a beautiful spot for getting ready, but this is also a gorgeous place for bridal portraits, first looks and bride and bridesmaid photos!

2nd Floor Window

Another great spot for first looks and a magical spot for bridal portraits!

The Stairs

An amazing place for a first look with dad, bridesmaids, groom, and even grandparents. Also, a great spot for a large group photo during cocktail hour since you can stack people on the stairs. An amazing spot for bridal portraits and couple portraits. It’s just a beautiful staircase you can use for photos throughout the day!

The Back Porch

By far the most popular spot for first looks and probably all photos, honestly. This spot is beautiful all year round and you’re protected from rain. It’s a perfect spot for literally any portraits. I LOVE bridesmaids photos on this porch too!

The Lawn

This space is so versatile. This area can host your ceremony, cocktail hour even dinner if the weather is nice! But it’s also gorgeous for wedding party, bride and groom portraits and family portraits.

Front of House

If you’re doing a send off at the end of the night, this is where that will happen. But don’t miss photo opportunities here at portrait time too! This is often a great area to sneak away if you guys want a few moments to yourself.

Carriage House

This is your reception space and can also be used for the ceremony. I highly encourage a private last dance in here with just you and your photographer! I will also use this space for family photos if it’s raining or it’s too hot/cold outside. July and August weddings in North Carolina will usually need an indoor space for the ceremony and family portraits because it does get so hot and humid.

As you can see, this venue has no shortage of amazing places for photos! Remember to keep the time of year you’re planning your wedding in mind when thinking about photos. So which of these spaces would be YOUR favorite?
